Or as I like to call them Wizz-ard hats! So I admit that one of my fears about having a boy is getting peed on. I think every mother fears this, It maybe be low on the list but it's still there. I wanted to make Adrian some little covers but I really didn't want to use any fabric I actually liked, essentially he will be peeing on it.
Enter: old wash clothes, so cheap and easy to replace, absorbent and come in a variety of colors & patterns depending on your fancy!

Take your folded washcloth and cut a semi circle,
Next unfold your semi circle into just half a circle and top stitch a 1/2" away from the curved edge. you may have to work your foot a little to get it over the terry cloth, but one of the nice things about this fabric is it doesn't unravel, no need to bother with finishing the edge unless you want to.
stitching a 1/2" away from the edge.
Now turn right side out and voila, you're done and safe!
works as an easy and cheap baby shower gift! I only made two since I figured they're so easy to whip up if I need more I can just make them quickly.
Let me know what you think and as always, if you have any questions feel free to comment or email me and I will be glad to help!

Sorry, I had to laugh about making something like this.... I had 4 younger brothers and learned early in life to cover the little gun.. with a washcloth... nothing fancy like this just a washcloth... Then I got married and had 2 sons.. again, just a simple washcloth that was always near.... funny to make a cover... just funny
ReplyDeleteyes we've had a few times where we've been hit and although the the idea is clever, they don't really stay especially with a little wiggler. Almost a better gag gift than anything! Thanks for the comment.
DeleteYou know what's really funny? I worried about this when I had a baby boy, but never got round ot making/getting one of these. I never once got wizzed on! Not even the tiniest sprinkle!
ReplyDeleteyou are one of the lucky few, it only takes once!
DeleteI think mine just waited till it was my turn to change him- I had more than one golden shower from him- and once an even less elegant surprise when I forgot the changing mat and sat him on my skirt- what a manoeuvre to get that off without getting any on me....
ReplyDeletehaha, that's how I feel. Daddy apparently has the trick down!
